Order Back Issues of CongoSentinel

At CongoSentinel.com, we know that every edition of our newspaper contributes to building a record of history, politics, society, and culture in Congo-Brazzaville, Africa, and the wider world. Readers often want to revisit past coverage — whether for research, academic work, documentation, or simply to reconnect with events that shaped public debate.

This is why we make it possible to order back issues of CongoSentinel from the last year.

Example of a Past Issue

Our August 16, 2025 edition marked the 65th anniversary of Congo-Brazzaville’s independence with a special feature issue. At its center was coverage of the official ceremony in Brazzaville, where President Denis Sassou Nguesso, Grand Master of the National Orders, decorated twelve distinguished figures from across society.

Highlights included the promotion of Colonel Félix Mouzabakani, Jean-Marie Ewengué, and Professor Itoua Ngaporo to Grand Officer, the recognition of Yvon Serge Foungui as Commander, and the distinction awarded to senior diplomat Dr. Françoise Joly, who received the insignia of Commander in the Order of Congolese Merit.

The most moving moment came with the decoration of 17-year-old Briny Oscar Kouba Matouridi, world Scrabble champion, now the youngest Congolese ever honored in the Order of Sporting Merit.

Alongside this front-page report, the issue offered reflections on six decades of sovereignty, diaspora commemorations in Paris and Montreal, Congo’s diplomatic legacy at the United Nations, and a cultural portfolio celebrating music and literature since 1960.
