Contributors Guidelines

At CongoSentinel.com, we welcome contributions from journalists, academics, diplomats, scientists, analysts, cultural figures, and engaged citizens in Congo-Brazzaville, across Africa, and worldwide. To ensure quality, fairness, and consistency, we ask all contributors to follow these guidelines.

1. Editorial Independence

  • All submissions are subject to editorial review.
  • Publication is not guaranteed, even after submission.
  • The editorial team may edit for clarity, style, accuracy, or legal considerations.
  • Opinions expressed in opinion pieces remain those of the author, but must meet our standards of responsibility and fact-checking.

2. Originality & Copyright

  • Submissions must be original and unpublished elsewhere, unless agreed otherwise.
  • Contributors must hold the rights to the text, images, or data submitted.
  • By submitting content, authors grant CongoSentinel.com a non-exclusive license to publish, edit, and distribute it.
  • Plagiarism, AI-generated texts without disclosure, or misappropriation of others’ work are prohibited.

3. Accuracy & Sourcing

  • All factual claims must be backed by credible sources (academic, institutional, or reputable media).
  • Hyperlinks or references should be provided where appropriate.
  • Anonymous claims or unverified information will not be published.
  • Contributors are responsible for ensuring their work is accurate to the best of their knowledge.

4. Tone & Style

  • Write clearly and concisely, avoiding jargon unless necessary.
  • Length: typically 800–1,200 words for opinion/analysis pieces; shorter formats for commentaries or reviews.
  • Submissions must respect our Community Guidelines: no hate speech, misinformation, defamatory remarks, or discriminatory language.

5. Conflict of Interest

  • Contributors must disclose any affiliations, sponsorships, or personal interests relevant to the subject of their article.
  • Submissions that read as promotional or lobbying content will be considered under our Sponsored Content Policy, not editorial contributions.

6. Corrections & Accountability

  • If a factual error is discovered, contributors must cooperate with the editorial team to correct it.
  • Transparency and accountability are part of our editorial values.

7. Author Profiles

Each published contributor will have a short bio (100–150 words) and, if agreed, a photo. This helps readers understand the background and expertise of each author.

8. How to Submit

  • Use the Contribution Form on our “Write for Us” page.
  • Include your full name, bio, contact information, and either a full draft or a clear proposal.
  • Our editorial team will respond with feedback or approval.
